Hair disease?

I have crazy hair. Sometimes I feel like a sheep. Sometimes a troll. The worst thing is when I have a bad hair day. I'll go through a long and exhausting battle with my curls (which always have a mind of their own, mind you), and upon realizing that once again they conquered the battle, I'll feel consumed by the feeling of defeat, sulk, and complain to my husband about my bad hair day. He will just shrug and say: "Your hair looks the same as it always does." URGH!! ¤#%?!*/" Let me just say that that is NOT a good bad hair day comment.

I've always had curly hair. And of course I always wished for straight hair. I could never do any of those really cute things people with straight hair could do. And straightening my hair was way too much work.

One of my friends used to say: "Curls are a hair disease, and YOU are very ill!" I've always loved that quote. What I haven't always loved, is people wanting to touch my hair. To see if it's real or something? And I got really sick of the comment "Where did you get those curls from!?" My standard reply: "They came with the head." DUH!

At least I inherited the hair genes from my maternal grandfather and still have a full head of hair. The men in my family can't say the same. They were cursed with my paternal grandfather's genes, and I think it's safe to say their shampoo budget is close to non-existent.

Speaking of genes, my poor kids have inherited my hair disease. What doesn't help, is they've inherited those genes from their father as well. Doubled up on the curly hair genes!! At least I can fully sympathize with them when I have to fight with their stubborn hair full of knots. Or when things get stuck or even lost in their hair.
